Our life experience, which I call our reality feed, is based upon our beliefs. The ones we’ve picked up from our family, education, society, that we formed through our own experiences and so on. Our beliefs create our perceptions, as well as condition our actions or reactions and our choices. They will consequently create our thoughts, feelings and emotions. They will form the fabric of how we experience the world. The projection of our inner world into the outside world is perceived as our reality. Our choice to incarnate into flesh and the choice of the specific theme of our existence and conditions is another subject. Although both are surely intertwined, I wish to touch on our reality feed at this time.

The reality feed

I refer to reality feed in the same way you have a Facebook or LinkedIn feed. It is your life, or the version of reality you are experiencing. Depending on your beliefs, feelings, choices, perceptions and expectations, this feed can change extensively. It is self-actualizing constantly. During the course of your evolution, your environment might not necessarily change, but your perception of it can be seen and lived from many viewpoints. From this point in time and at every moment there are infinite possibilities that can unfold depending on your viewpoint. The same goes for what we call our “past” or “future” that can impact our present. Basically, it is a huge playground to explore, and it is up to us to adjust it to what serves us rather than what limits us.

Beliefs are at the center of the creation of your human experience

These beliefs sit in plain sight because your reality feed is their mirror. Your environment is the physical expression of your inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, expectations and beliefs. Your beliefs are then considered reality itself, as truths, often without questioning the beliefs that support that truth.

You are not your beliefs, in the same way you are not your emotions. What you believe today might not be the same as what you will believe tomorrow. Thankfully, we are also updating ourselves consciously and unconsciously all the time. This is where I’ll drop this quote I love: “Intelligence: not because you think you know everything without questioning, but rather because you question everything you think you know.”

Core beliefs

We probably have all questioned what comes to our minds, gathering further information and changing our perception through further knowledge and understanding. However, some core underlying beliefs dictate the show. Core beliefs are our most deeply held assumptions about ourselves, the world and others. They influence what we do, feel, how we show up and therefore the reality we experience.

One core belief can generate many other beliefs, which create many different symptoms or experiences themselves. Like the branch of a tree forming many shoots, with those forming many leaves. We often try to heal the leaf, numb or cut the shoot off. But, the branch is still here and will grow others. Some common core beliefs are: “I am not worth it, I don’t deserve it, it’s impossible, I am not good enough, etc.”

We evolve through contractions and expansions

Generally, we wait to experience contractions or painful events in our lives to start questioning why this is happening. Yet contractions and expansions are a natural rhythm in life that allows evolution.

However, if the work is not done at the belief level, the expansion might only look like a release or a different situation. This inevitably brings you back to the starting point when the next contraction occurs. Even if we do not see our own patterns, we are all observers of someone reiterating similar life patterns over and over.

Evolution happens when beliefs are transformed and blocked energies are transmuted. The aim is to grow out of the contractions, or position ourselves above them before diving into the next expansion with a higher level of awareness. This requires honestly looking in the mirror and questioning ourselves. It requires taking responsibility for all that is happening to us rather than blaming others. It also requires us to be brave, observe ourselves with full integrity and be willing to question what we hold as truths.

So how do we take notice of our beliefs?

Beliefs the keys to your transformation

As already mentioned, these are reflected in your reality feed. If there is something you don’t like in the projection of who you are or what you are living, it is the entry point. To get more specific about your beliefs, pay attention to your thoughts, especially the recurrent thought viruses that come to mind. You know, those stupid or useless thoughts that pop up on a regular basis from god knows where. Thoughts that you often end up not paying attention to anymore because they get lost amongst the constant inner chatter. Indeed, we all know that it is said that the brain produces 60’000 to 80’000 thoughts per day… This is a lot of chatter, but you still have a sense of the conscious recurring and unhelpful ones.

Become the observer, the witness of your own reality feed. Think of yourself as the person reading another’s feed rather than your own, and spot out the trends.

A thought is not just a thought

A thought affects the biochemistry of your body, which has an impact on your emotions and mood. That ends up creating or reinforcing your inner and outer stories. It is also an electromagnetic wave that is released in the field. Contrary to what we could think, nothing is hidden or forgotten somewhere in the subconscious mind. All is always there in plain sight. Your thoughts can be the breadcrumb trail to your beliefs. When it is difficult to grasp your thoughts, another entry point is your feelings and emotions – the ones that you are trying to numb, that you are ashamed of, or are trying to separate yourself from.

Your beliefs can be like barriers around you

There are many tools and techniques out there that can be used to slow down, assess, question yourself or tune in. But sometimes, some beliefs are so deeply ingrained that it is difficult to detect them on our own. Your beliefs can be like barriers around you, and you must first see their existence. Otherwise, you will not even realize that you are not free and unable to see beyond these barriers. These beliefs represent the boundaries of your reality feed. Also, your brain will do a fantastic job of refusing certain thoughts that come to mind because they conflict with your accepted ideas that fit your beliefs.

You are your own gatekeeper

No other will make the shift for you. There is no magic wand that will lift the veil and set you free. You are your own gatekeeper with all the keys in your pocket. You might find the wizard that will release you for some time because you believe in it. However, if the belief originally creating your discomfort isn’t dug out, it’ll end up creating a similar contraction again. It might not look the same at first sight, but the underlying energy that creates the dysfunctionality stays the same.

Mirrors of your inner world

This is where interaction with others becomes interesting. They will reflect back to you a part of your inner world where some beliefs are held. They can be our mirrors, to the extent of what can be shared within the biases of the specific relation, whether they come to you generating contractions or expansions. So, this is where all the beauty of transformational coaching kicks in. You are facing a mirror that has no personal imbrications with your environment and no judgment of what happens in it. A space of trust where all can be said without holding back. Leading you to explore your inner world and expand your awareness about it. Guiding you to transcend your barriers, transmute your energy blocks and align your vibrations to what serves you.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, what is the most expansive belief of all?

  • What is a current belief that doesn’t serve you in your reality feed right now?
  • What impact does it have in your life? In your work? In your relation to others?
  • How do you feel when you think about it?
  • If you had to choose one belief that really serves you in this area, what would it be? A belief that could automatically break through false and preconceived ideas.
  • And what if you would be open to believing that it could be possible to start operating from this place?
  • What would it change in your reality feed?
  • How would this impact others around you?
  • What new possibilities would that open for you?
  • Finally, how would you feel deep inside operating from this place?

I wish you a good belief hunting and evolutionary expansions!
